Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter has announced a vacancy on the Seligman Unified School District Governing Board. The opening was created by the resignation Mr. Jerome Simpson, who was having difficulty participating in meetings due to health issues.  The resignation was effective as of August 29, 2020. We greatly appreciate the service that Mr. Simpson has provided to the school district and the community. Since at the time of resignation, Seligman Unified School District was in the active 2020 election cycle, Superintendent Carter “held the position vacant”, until the 2020 Governing Board election had been completed.

 At this point, we will post the position and seek applicants. The process of application, interviews, background checks, and appointment takes about 20 days. In order to be eligible to hold this seat a person must; be a registered voter within the school district,  be a citizen of the United States of America, be at least 18 years of age, possess their civil rights, have continually resided within the school district for at least one year immediately preceding taking office, and they or their spouse may not be employed by the district, or working for the district on a third party contract.

          Deadline for receipt of letters of interest is Friday, November 13, 2020, at 5:00 p.m.  Mr. Carter will interview finalists at the Seligman Unified School District office on the afternoon of Tuesday, November 17, 2020. The appointment should be announced by Thursday, November 19, 2020 and be valid through December 31, 2022.
