Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. David Klever to the Mountain Institute Career and Technology Education District Governing Board, to represent the Prescott Unified School District. The appointment will be effective January 1, 2020 and will expire on December 31, 2020. The vacancy was due to the resignation of ten (10) year veteran Board Member Michael Taylor, who will serve through the remainder of 2019. Mr. Taylor’s extended service and leadership to the school district is greatly appreciated.
Mr. Klever has been a resident of the Mountain Institute District for fifteen (15) years. He is married, and the couple have two adult children. Mr. Klever graduated from Buena High School in Sierra Vista, before earning a Bachelor’s Degree from Northern Arizona University, where he studied Computer Science / Information Systems. He then completed two (2) Master’s Degrees, one in Community College Education and the other in Business Administration. Mr. Klever has taught at the community college level for many years and has successfully operated his own business, Granite Mountain Computer Services, since 2008.
Mr. Klever has been active in the community, serving on the Board of Directors of the YMCA, Prescott Education Foundation, and as the former President of Prescott Area Leadership.
Mr. Carter posted this position within the school districts and with local media. Upon receipt of letters of interest and a resume, he conducted an individual interview with three (3) well qualified applicants. That preceded speaking individually with each of the elected members of the Governing Boards of both Mountain Institute CTED and Prescott Unified School, their district executive leadership, and with various residents of the district.
Superintendent Carter said that “Mr. Klever is looking forward to this new challenge. He should be a supportive partner with the existing Board Members. His background, board experience, education, and work experience should serve him well in this new endeavor.
