Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter has announced a vacancy on the Bagdad Unified School District Governing Board, due to the resignation of Mrs. Mikaela Gist. Mrs. Gist has accepted a teaching position with the school district, and will no longer be eligible to continue on the Governing Board. “Mrs. Gist’s service to the school district is greatly appreciated”, Carter said. Because of the proximity of this vacancy to the filing deadline for the upcoming November Governing Board elections, Mr. Carter has determined that this vacancy will not be filled at this time. Mr. Carter said, “Due to the timeline that filling this vacancy would require, it is in the best interest of all involved to wait until the nomination / election process is concluded to make an appointment. The appointment, expected to be in mid-November after the canvass of election, will be of the non-incumbent candidate who receives the highest number of votes in the election.
