NEWS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Deann Ashby to the Governing Board for the Hillside Elementary School District. The appointment was due to the fact that no one filed to run for the seat in the 2020 election cycle. The appointment will begin on Thursday, January 28th upon taking the oath of office and will expire on December 31, 2022.
Mrs. Ashby graduated from Prescott High School and earned a Bachelor of Science Degree from Northern Arizona University in Physical Education, Teaching and Coaching. She has been married for sixteen years and the couple have two grown children. They have a grandchild that attends Hillside School. She has worked for the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, since 2002, starting as a detention officer, and is currently a Patrol Sergeant in the southwest portion of the county.
Mr. Carter believes “Mrs. Ashby is well intentioned in learning the role of the Governing Board and will seek to balance the needs of students, parents, staff, and the taxpayer. She should relate well to all segments of the community and will work in a cooperative spirit with their fellow Board Members, the administration, staff and community members”.
Mr. Carter accepted letters of interest before conducting interviews of those who expressed an interest in the position. He then spoke individually with each of the elected members of the Governing Board, members of the school staff and administration, and communicated with several area residents prior to making the appointment.
Mr. Carter may be reached at 928-925-6560 (cell). Mrs. Ashby may be contacted at 928.830.9278.
