Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter has announced a vacancy on the Congress Elementary School District Governing Board. The opening was originally created due to the resignation of Board Member Brenda Newell, who did not provide a reason for her departure.  As a result, Superintendent Carter announced the position being open for applicants and two well qualified candidates came forward. Following the selection process, Mrs. Cindy Moralez was selected and when offered the position, she accepted. Mrs. Moralez has now declined the position, thus creating a situation where the position will need to be reposted. The other candidate actively remains in the pool.

The position is now open, and letters of interest and resumes will be accepted through 5:00 pm on Friday, September 10th. Additional interviews will be conducted at Congress School on Monday, September 13th and an appointment will be announced by Tuesday, September 14th. The appointment will be valid through December 31, 2022

 In order to be eligible to hold this seat a person must; be a registered voter within the school district, be a citizen of the United States of America, be at least 18 years of age, possess their civil rights, have continually resided within the school district for at least one year immediately preceding taking office, and they or their spouse may not be employed by the district, or working for the district on a third party contract.
