NEWS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter is pleased to announce the appointment of Mrs. Cindy Moralez, to the Congress Elementary School District Governing Board. The appointment will be effective August 23, 2021 and will expire on December 31, 2022. She has expressed an intent to run for this seat in the 2022 election cycle for a new term beginning in 2023. That process entails pulling a packet, filing a statement of intent to run, being issued a serial number from the Yavapai County Education Service Agency, and circulating petitions prior to being declared a qualified candidate in mid-summer.
This seat was vacant due to the fact that Board Member Brenda Newell, resigned without providing a reason for her departure. We appreciate the efforts Mrs. Newell put forward in supporting students and the community.
Mrs. Moralez is a graduate of Wickenburg High School. She has been a resident of the district for thirty-six (36) years and is married. The couple have three (3) grown children and seven (7) grandchildren.
Mrs. Moralez was employed by the Wickenburg Unified School District as a classified staff member for nineteen (19) years, working in a variety of positions that supported instruction. Mr. and Mrs. Moralez own and operate Moralez Ranch Enterprises.
Mr. Carter believes “Mrs. Moralez understands the function of schools and will work to learn the powers and duties of the Governing Board and will balance the needs of students, parents, staff, and the taxpayer. She appears to relate to all segments of the community and should work well with her fellow Board Members”.
Mr. Carter accepted letters of interest and held interviews of two (2) well qualified candidates. He then spoke individually with each of the elected members of the Governing Board, members of the school staff and administration, and several area residents prior to making the appointment.
Mr. Carter may be reached at 928-925-6560 (cell) and Mrs. Moralez may be reached at 928-221-1255.
