NEWS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter has announced a vacancy on the Prescott Unified School District Governing Board, due to the resignation of Board Member Connie Donovan, for medical reasons. The resignation was effective June 22, 2022. The service that Ms. Donovan has provided to the school district is greatly appreciated.

Because of the proximity of this vacancy to the filing deadline for the upcoming November Governing Board elections, Mr. Carter has determined that this vacancy will not be filled at this time.

Mr. Carter said, “Due to the timeline that filling this vacancy would require, it is in the best interest of all involved to wait until the nomination / election process is concluded to make an appointment. Assuming the current candidates remain in the race and qualify for the ballot, the appointment is expected to be in mid November after the canvass of election.  The appointment will be of the non-incumbent candidate who has the highest number of votes. The term will be from the time of taking the oath of office, until December 31, 2022. Their new elected term will commence on January 1, 2023
