NEWS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter is pleased to announce the appointment of Kurtis Keele to the Mountain Institute CTED Governing Board, representing residents of the Ash Fork Unified School District.
This vacancy was due to the resignation of long time Board Member Ted Coleman, who resigned due to medical reasons and has since relocated out of the school district. We greatly appreciate the service Mr. Coleman provided to the school and the community since he served for over a decade as a board member and as the presiding officer.
Due to the fact that the resignation occurred during an election cycle, Superintendent Carter held the position vacant until the election process could yield a successor.
There was one qualified non-incumbent candidate for the seat, who is now being appointed. Mr. Keele was willing to start the term early and take this interim appointment effective upon taking the oath of office on September 1, 2022 through December 31, 2022 and then begin the full term for which he was elected on January 1, 2023.
Superintendent Carter stated, “It was nice that the election process made the selection in this case”. Mr. Keele will do well and the fact that he was willing to begin his service early is greatly appreciated”.
