NEWS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter has announced a vacancy on the Bagdad Unified School District Governing Board, due to the resignation of Mrs. Kate Pierce, due to a pending move outside of the school district. The resignation is effective immediately. “Mrs. Pierce’s service to the school district is greatly appreciated”, Carter said.
Because of the proximity of this vacancy to the filing deadline for the upcoming November Governing Board elections, Mr. Carter has determined that this vacancy will not be filled at this time.
Mr. Carter said, “Due to the timeline that filling this vacancy would require, it is in the best interest of all involved to wait until the nomination/election process is concluded to make an appointment. The appointment, expected to be in mid-November after the canvass of election, will be of the non-incumbent candidate who receives the highest number of votes in the election.
The school district has three (3) positions that will be up for election in this election cycle. One seat is a two (2) year term and there are two seats for four (4) year terms. All school board elections in Arizona are nonpartisan.
