NEWS RELEASE – FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

The Yavapai County Board of Supervisors meet today (November 28, 2022) to review and certify the 2022 election results, which included Yavapai County school district and community college district elections.

As announced early in the 2022 election cycle, Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter, informed the public and the school districts that he intended to follow the long established practice, that when school district Board seats become vacant during a term, he will “hold the position vacant” during the election cycle, in deference to having the election process and the voters themselves make those decisions.

Following the certification by the Board of Supervisors, the following four non-incumbents who received the highest number of votes in the election and were eligible and willing to serve early were sworn in for the remainder of those “held terms”, through December 31, 2022. The appointments include:

  • Stan Goligoski (Prescott Unified) for Connie Donovan,
  • Maraya Oothoudt (Camp Verde Unified) for Bob Simbric,
  • Misty Cox (Mingus Union) for Greg Roeller.
  • April Payne (Sedona-Oak Creek Unified) for Maria Husted.

The term that these candidates just won in the election will follow and begin on January 1, 2023 and go through December 31, 2026. They will be sworn in for those terms along with other members of their Board as scheduled by the district.
