Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter is pleased to announce the appointment of Diane Pritchett, to the Seligman Unified School District Governing Board. The appointment will be effective November 24, 2021 and will expire on December 31, 2022.  A ceremonial swearing-in is scheduled for December 13th at 5 pm at the Seligman Governing Board meeting. This seat was vacant due to the resignation of Board Member Cheryl James, due to her inability to attend Board meetings. We appreciate the service provided by Mrs. James to the school district and the community.

This seat will be up for election in the 2022 election cycle along with other Governing Board positions. Mr. Carter posted the position on October 28, 2021 and accepted letters of interest and resumes from those seeking the position. Diane Pritchett was the only applicant by the deadline of November 19, 2021. She is a thirty-year resident of the school district. Following the completion of a Bachelor of Arts degree in Fine Arts from Saint Michael’s College in Vermont, she completed two Master’s degrees in Elementary Education and Educational Leadership from Northern Arizona University. She started her educational career with Seligman Schools in 1980 as a classroom teacher, took a few years off to raise children, and retired in 2019 as the school district superintendent.

Mr. Carter believes “Ms. Pritchett fully understands the role of the Governing Board and will work to balance the needs of students, parents, staff, and the taxpayer. Her experience as a teacher and administrator should be beneficial.
