Yavapai County School Superintendent Tim Carter is pleased to announce the appointment of Deborah Miller, to the Congress Elementary School District Governing Board. The appointment is effective November 12, 2021 and will expire on December 31, 2022.  She has expressed an intent to run for this seat in the 2022 election cycle for a new term beginning in 2023.

This seat was vacant due to the passing of Board Member Dutch Grogan. We appreciate the efforts Mr. Grogan put forward in supporting students and the community and offer our deepest condolences to friends and family.

Deborah graduated from Wickenburg High School and attended Antelope Valley Community College in California and Glendale Community College in Arizona. She studied accounting and business.  She meets the lawful residency requirement and has a grandchild attending Congress School. She is married and the couple have grown children and several grandchildren.

Mrs. Miller has handled corporate accounts for American Stores, Albertson’s, Baker Commodities, Osco Home Health Care, and Lucky’s Food Stores, prior to transitioning into education where she worked for Washington Elementary School District and Dysart Unified School District.  Mr. Carter believes “Deborah will bring a tremendous amount of expertise from the corporate world and day to day experience in the public-school setting to her new duties. She interviewed extremely well. She should compliment the current Governing Board with her background.

Mr. Carter accepted letters of interest and held interviews of the qualified candidates. He then spoke individually with elected members of the Governing Board, members of the school staff and administration, and several area residents prior to making the appointment.
